Valentine’s Day cookies

Sweetness brought to you circa 1980s Seventeen!

Below, the yummiest cinnamon chocolate cutouts.

But first:

WHITE VELVET CUTOUTS
2 sticks of butter, softened
4 oz cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup white sugar
1 egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour

Cream together butter and cream cheese until smooth.
Beat in sugar. Add egg yolk and vanilla, and mix well. Add flour in slowly.
Gather dough into a disk, wrap in plastic and chill in refrigerator for several hours or overnight.
When ready to make cookies, roll dough on lightly floured board to 1/4 inch thick. Cut with floured cutters.

Bake at 350 F until edges turn golden.
Cool on racks. Frost with royal icing if desired.
